Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lip Color in Calypso

Hey guys! Here's another lipstick review. It's the Creamy Matte Lip Color in shade Calypso. Read reviews of Lip Color here and Rich Lip Color here.

Bobbi Brown describes Calypso as a pink coral.

Indeed, it is a hot pink with coral undertones.

I find its texture to be quite unforgiving on my lips, even with lip balm underneath. Ironic, because it's supposed to be a creamy matte. But it's not creamy at all. It is lightweight, but it tugs on my lips during application. It does, however, leave a pretty hot pink stain on my lips once it wears off -- while also leaving them dry.

I'd say the only thing I really like about this lipstick is the color. I'm a sucker for pretty watermelon pinks especially during summer. Even though they don't suit me. (I think.)

Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Color in Soft Coral

Hi lovelies! Let me tell you something about my current favorite coral lipstick, Bobbi Brown rich lip color in Soft Coral. I was on a bit of a coral phase last summer, and this was one that really got me in.

Soft Coral is a very pretty light coral shade. It's actually more of a muted, milky orange with just a little bit of pink.

The lightweight texture is creamy and non-drying. It isn't fully opaque, as when I wear this I find that my natural lip color somehow still peeks through. It has a pleasant vanilla smell, much like MAC lipsticks. This wears for a decently long period, it can last about 4-5 hours before it starts to fade off. It leaves a light stain after eating, though drinking doesn't require much touch up. Its texture is quite powdery, so unlike other lipsticks with stickier formulas, this doesn't cling much to straws or cups.

I'm not a fan of bright or bold colors because I don't think they look good on me, but this really goes well with my NC25 skintone. It's perfect for summer or days when you just feel like oozing a vibrant, feminine aura.

Overall, I'm pleased with this purchase and am looking forward to my next Rich Lip Color purchases. Thanks for reading, see you guys!

P.S This wasn't my first lipstick from the Rich Lip Color line, my first was Bikini Pink. Well it unfortunately washed me out, err it had too much blue in it which was against my warm skin tone, so I sent it away.

Bobbi Brown Lip Color in Tulle ~ HG MLBB

Bobbi Brown is probably one of my first high end beauty discoveries. And the moment I applied that first lip product, the Bobbi Brown Lip Color in Sandwash Pink, I knew it wasn't going to be my last. That lipstick instantly became my HG. So then I tried some more of Bobbi Brown, and some more, and more. Still, my favorite of the BB line remained to be the Lip Colors. And this one I'm going to review, Bobbi Brown lip color in Tulle, is my current favorite. An MLBB.

Fully opaque, creamy and non-drying with almost semi-matte finish - Why I love my Bobbi lip colors. One swipe is enough to give my lips a full splash of color. And despite its opacity, it's unlike some lipsticks which tend to dry my lips out and sometimes even leave them flaky. This is very creamy and actually keeps my lips soft and moisturized.

I would describe Tulle, as a warm rosy (rosewood-y) pink. It really brightens up my face without being too loud or obnoxious. A perfect my-lips-but-better.

Under certain lighting conditions (indoors with artificial  fluorescent lights) it can look just a tad bit darker and mauvier, which makes my lips look more natural and quite just bitten.

Wear time is about 6 hours or so. Eating will require some touch up, while drinking- little to none. What I don't like with the Lip Color line is their smell. Quite too makeup-y. If I were 10 years younger I'd probably describe it as my grandma's-cosmetics-kind-of-scent. Heh. It doesn't last long, though, once it's on the lips. Plus it's not something that'll make me stray from such a great line. My HG lip product. Love you, Bobbi!

Bobbi Brown BB Cream SPF 35 ~ Review

Okay so this is one of my not-so-few unplanned beauty product buys. No reviews, I don't even remember swatching this. I was just at the Bobbi Brown counter then found myself reaching for this baby. "Ooh, Bobbi's got a bb cream! Well, since it's Bobbi Brown, it's worth giving a try." was what I thought. Little did I know that this was going to be one of my few successful impulse purchases.

According to Bobbi Brown:
Moisturize, perfect and protect - instantly and over time. Now it's easier than ever to get great skin with Bobbi Brown's new BB Cream SPF 35. Inspired by a skincare/makeup hybrid that's a cult favorite in Asia, this formula combines moisturizer, treatment, Broad Spectrum SPF and a lightweight foundation in one. Plus, it's now available in nine skin tone correct shades carefully formulated by Bobbi herself. Consider it your skin's new best friend.

According to some beauty blogs, this is the best bb cream for a "matte" finish. Now I'm even more glad I didn't read reviews before getting this. To me this actually leaves a dewy, natural finish. (Which was what I wanted a bb cream to give me.) It gives the skin a healthy glow. This is may be nowhere near matte, but it does help control my oilies! Did I mention it was oil-free,? A certain plus plus plus! for an oily skinned gal like me. It has the potential to accentuate dry patches though, so make sure you're properly moisturized before application.

I was given the shade Fair, which I thought was a little light on my NC25-30 skintone.

Well blended
This gives a sheer to light coverage, despite its thick consistency. Initially I thought it only evened out my skintone, but I noticed that the look gets better as the day goes by. Neat!

Wear time, surprisingly for its coverage, is quite long. I can leave the house at 10 am, return by 8 pm, and STILL see it on my face. Some point at mid day, I have to retouch the blemish areas and blot my nose though. Anyway, it's good for about 6++ hours.

The best part of this bb is that it doesn't aggravate my sensitive, acne-prone skin, which is always my deciding factor for a beauty/skincare product.

Review Summary: Bobbi Brown BB Creme SPF 35

Pros:
Oil-free
Great texture, non-drying
Controls oil
Doesn't cause breakouts

Cons:
Coverage is a little too light for acne/acne scars

Overall:
4/5

Would I repurchase? If I don't find another bb cream with just slightly better coverage, yes.
Would I recommend this? Yes
